REDЯOCK, REDЯOCK, REDЯOCK....

We wrapped up our time in Utah with some unexpected weather...snow and hail. The desert is truly unpredictable! We randomly ran into Pete (a guy we met in Chulilla, that happened to know our friend Purpur from climbing in the Lake Tahoe area) and made plans to climb at Sunset Alley, where we got snowed on and off with sunshine in between. It was about the most bipolar weather I have ever experienced.

This happened as we drove up to the crag. And on the hike in. Should have been a warning sign. But the perfect sunshiny weather in between suckered us in.

As I went up this warm up, winter came up on me real fast. I said "Oh hail no," hurried down, and Pete went full alpine. Thanks Pete!

At some point we had to stop...

And hide in a cave.

This gooey cheesy dinner was necessary after hanging out in the cold all day.
We moved on to Lime Kiln Canyon in Arizona, right outside of Mesquite, Nevada. This place had signage paid for by the Southern Utah Climbing Coalition. I could never tell which state we were in, but who cares. We met some really cool people here and had a blast climbing and camping out for a few days without a care in the world.

Extremely coiled rope!

Rest day projects! The van is still a work in progress, and it might always will be...

On our way out of Lime Kiln we saw a tortoise cross the road and it made me so happy and my life felt complete.

And Dylan helped his cross the road, as we were supposed to. #themoreyouknow
We then went to Priest Draw, outside of Flagstaff. We checked out the Bat Roof, which kicked my butt. This boulder was so cool and will require more visits in the near future.

Dylan on the steepest warmup ever
After a night in Flagstaff we headed on to Sedona to what would be the highlight of my Arizona visit: Christine's Bachelorette weekend! Words cannot express the happiness that filled my heart to see some of my very closest friends and hang out with awesome ladies, in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Hokies reunite!

Picnic lunch at Grasshopper Point

Just the beginning of a wild night. Up The Creek in Cornville, Arizona is an adorable bar with amazing food, fantastic wine, and incomparable personalities. Jim here is the chef, part owner, and (on request) pianist. Thank you Mario(other owner) for showing us such a good time!

It took some effort to see this sunrise the next morning, but it was #worthit

Chapel of the Holy Cross. No words needed.

Mandy getting her beauty on, oh la la

We were the lucky ducks that got to take home all of the leftovers. We are set for food and drinks for a looong time, will probably need to start making friends really soon to share things to make more room in the van. A very exciting problem to have.
Special thanks to Christine and her #FredonaAZ lady crew for an amAZing time- I'm already counting down to our reunion at Christine's (gasp) WEDDING! Much love!
